GEORGE TOWN – Former youth and sports minister Datuk Mokhtar Hashim died around 3am today after a brief illness. He was 78.

Mokhtar was found guilty and sentenced to death in 1983 for murdering former Negri Sembilan speaker Datuk Mohamed Taha Talib.

He was released after receiving a royal pardon in 1991.

His widow, Datin Bahariah Yusuf, confirmed the death on social media. – The Vibes, November 18, 2020
