KUALA LUMPUR – The family of 16-year-old Ali Imran Naseruddin, who went missing from his home in Bandar Bukit Puchong 2 in the pre-dawn hours of Thursday, have expressed relief after he was finally found safe at about the same time today.

In a social media message, his sister Alya thanked friends, officials and members of the public who had supported the family during the emotional ordeal over the past three days.

They were reunited with Ali Imran at 4am. “Words just can’t describe our emotions,” she said, calling that moment “the greatest blessing and miracle that was given to us.”

She also expressed the family’s wish that no one else should undergo the torment that they went through in having a child missing from the family.

She also urged that people not cast judgement on the teenager in light of the incident.

Ali Imran’s mother, Wan Esuriyanti Wan Ahmad, a corporate communications head and former journalist, had previously said that he was discovered missing from his room at about 5.30am on Thursday when she went to wake him up for school.

A close circuit television camera recording from the security guardhouse showed the teenager walking out of the neighbourhood at 4am, dressed in all black and carrying a small navy blue bag with him.

Alya said the boy was now in good health but was “lethargic”.

She thanked the investigative team from the Sepang district police headquarters for their tireless efforts in following leads provided by the public.

“Special appreciation to Corporal 143300 Nasir and his partner Konst/S 25692 from IPD Ampang Jaya who found Ali and picked him up, before calling us to inform the good news this morning at 3.26am,” she said in a Twitter post.

“Most of all, to every single one of you whether you know us personally or otherwise – who showered us with your words of support and prayers – we don't know how to repay your kind deeds.”

She added that the family was not able to thank them personally.

“Before we end, we like to add that we never wish for any parents to go through this ordeal of a missing child, but we also hope no judgement (is) made on our son. No one will truly understand his actions but he has his reasons,” she said.

“On that note, I wish and pray that we can continue to be kind and thoughtful to each other, as how you have shown us.”

Speaking to The Vibes, Wan Esuriyanti said her husband received a call from the Ampang IPD at 3.26am informing them that Ali had been found somewhere in Kg Melayu – some 40km from home.

She said questions about his whereabouts since he went missing are best left to the police to answer.

However, she expressed her gratitude to police and members of the public for their assistance and concern.

“Malaysians are amazing. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming,” she said.

Wan Esuriyanti said for now, the family just wants to catch up on some rest and enjoy their reunion with her son. – The Vibes, June 19, 2022
