KUALA LUMPUR – Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor will know her fate on September 1, 9am if she will be convicted for charges relating to the RM1.25 billion hybrid photovoltaic solar system integrated project for 369 rural schools in Sarawak.

The new date was set by deputy registrar Catherine Nicholas during case management today that was attended by deputy public prosecutor Poh Yih Tinn and Rosmah’s lawyers Datuk Jagjit Singh and Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader.

Akberdin was quoted as saying by Bernama that the defence was told to attend today’s proceedings via a court letter dated June 29.

Poh also confirmed the matter, telling reporters that judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan wanted to set a date in August but other parties only agreed to a September date.

Yesterday Zaini had set July 7 for the verdict on the three corruption charges Rosmah is facing.

She is also heading back to high court on July 6 after submitting another application to challenge the appointment of Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram as the senior deputy public prosecutor in her corruption trial and to nullify proceedings that started in 2018.

The application will be heard by judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Md Shahid and the matter has been confirmed by Akberdin.

Rosmah, 70, filed the judicial review application on June 24 through Messrs Akberdin & Co in the high court naming the attorney-general and public prosecutor, the government of Malaysia, and Sri Ram as respondents.

However, her earlier application was dismissed by the court and her appeal against the ruling was also rejected by the Court of Appeal and the federal court.

Rosmah is charged with soliciting RM187.5 million and two counts of receiving bribes of RM6.5 million from Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd’s former managing director Saidi Abang Samsuddin through her former special officer Datuk Rizal Mansor.

It was an inducement to help the company Jepak Holdings to secure the hybrid photovoltaic solar system integrated project for 369 rural schools in Sarawak, worth RM1.25 billion.

The trial at the high court has been completed and the date to deliver the court’s ruling on whether to acquit or convict Rosmah on the three corruption charges has been set to September 1. – The Vibes, July 1, 2022
