KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Umno deputy chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed has some “tasty” remarks for fellow party veteran Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and rival PAS, saying the two “opportunists” belong together.

Nur Jazlan said PAS is always ready to grab political opportunities, especially after Tajuddin’s removal from the Umno Supreme Council.

“After Pasir Salak MP (Tajuddin) was sacked from the Supreme Council, Takiyuddin and Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria was so quick to ‘pinang’ (court) Umno’s ‘old horse’,” he said referring to PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

“This shows that I wasn’t wrong in labelling the PAS leader and minister as ‘cap ayam’ (low class). Those who are ‘cap ayam’ will flock to other ‘cap ayam’.”

He added that Tajuddin is now a liability to Umno and that he is no longer trustworthy, just like PAS, with their rhetoric on race and religion.

“It is better for Tajuddin to jump into Sg Pasir Salak with his labu sayong (water calabash) and PAS.

“I’m sure Umno will be relieved that Tajuddin joins PAS. At least, Umno will be able to give the younger leaders in Pasir Salak a chance to run for the seat in the general election.”

Nur Jazlan said Tajuddin has been a lawmaker for more than two decades, holding various posts in the cabinet, GLCs and as a special envoy.

On June 23, Tajuddin was removed as a Supreme Council member via a letter dated June 21.

In that letter, which made the rounds on social media, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi dropped Tajuddin from the post, but did not state the reason behind the termination. – The Vibes, July 4, 2022
