BESUT – Rain water which seeped into a RON95 petrol storage tank has been identified as the cause for the damage of 23 cars that had refueled at a petrol station in Kg Anak Ikan, here last Wednesday.
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry's Besut branch head, Azani Ismail said, the discovery was made after the incident went viral on Facebook.
“The result of the investigation found that RON95 petrol in one of the storage tanks at the station contained water following a heavy rain that day.”
“The petrol station manager only realised it at about 8.30am after receiving complaints and immediately stopped operations to carry out the cleaning process and remove the water in the tank,” he said in a statement today.
Azani said the petrol station operator suffered losses of RM15,789 due to the incident.
The petrol station operator also urged those who had refueled their vehicles with RON95 at the pump station between 7am and 8.30am last Wednesday to come forward and make their damages claims, he added. – Bernama, November 20, 2020
