KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has reaffirmed Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Bersatu’s support of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration, amidst rumours of a crisis of confidence against the government.

According to Astro Awani, Azmin, who is also a Bersatu supreme council member, said his peers in PN are committed to strengthening the current administration.

“The government of today must be stable and fair. If that is not the case, then it wouldn’t be possible for us to manage these two major aspects for the good of the people.

“A stable and strong government will benefit the people which in turn will prosper the country, Insyallah,” he said to the news portal.

Azmin was speaking to the media after witnessing the signing of the memorandum of understanding for strategic partnership between the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry and 22 other private companies at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang today.

When asked about rumours that he is PN’s choice for deputy prime minister, Azmin did not outright deny or confirm the allegations.

He instead reiterated his commitment as the international trade and industry minister to revitalise the economy and help with the government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The government today consists of various parties with the largest component being from PN.

“So if we are weak, then the government supported by PN is weak, so it is the responsibility of the government today to strengthen this coalition,’’ he said.

When asked further about Umno and PN’s contentious relationship, Azmin said it is better for politicians to focus on “action-orientated” politics that benefit the people. – The Vibes, August 8, 2022
