Selangor old folks’ home residents among 137 flood evacuees

SHAH ALAM – A total of 137 people, including residents of an old folks’ home, were evacuated to four relief centres as of noon today, following flooding in Kuala Selangor and Sepang due to continuous rain since Wednesday.

Selangor Disaster Management Unit operations officer Muhammad Izzat Haziq Mohd Nazir said in Ijok, residents of Kg Sri Aman and Kg Seri Sentosa are housed at the Desa Coalfield Kuala Selangor District Council Hall; Al-Jashiera Home residents at SK Parit Mahang; and, Jalan Haji Ehsan residents at SK Ijok.

“Kg Giching residents are seeking shelter at Sekolah Rendah Agama Labu Lanjut,” he told Bernama here today.

Kuala Selangor Civil Defence Force officer Shaiful Azril Zainal said the relief centre at SK Parit Marang, which has been opened since Thursday, is housing only the 52 Al-Jashiera Home residents to ensure their health and safety amid the Covid-19 pandemic. – Bernama, November 21, 2020
