KOTA KINABALU – The Health Ministry is mulling over whether to integrate patients’ medical records with routine treatment into the MySejahtera app, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said this will allow patients to get their medication topped up anywhere in Malaysia.
“It is true that we are in the process of using the MySejahtera app for other uses than contact tracing for Covid-19.
“(For instance), patients could use the app to obtain medicines from any health facility, from Perlis to Tawau.
“The MySejahtera app is not only for Covid-19, but also for communicable and non-communicable diseases. So there are endless possibilities with the app,” he said in response to a question posed by a participant of the ministry’s white paper briefing for Sabah here today.
Also present at the briefing was Sabah’s Community Development and People’s Well-being Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.
The white paper, which aims to carry out reforms in the country’s healthcare system, also includes the utilisation of information technology to improve delivery.
On another note, Dr Noor Hisham expressed hope that the Sabah government will increase the number of scholarships for students to study medicine.
In addition, he appealed to the state government to help the Health Ministry set aside some land to build workers’ quarters as its staffers currently face insufficient housing.
