PETALING JAYA – Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be discussing matters related to fledgling Muda joining the coalition as soon as possible, said coalition chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking briefly to the media last night, Anwar did not refute the possibility of such collaboration but he said the matter has yet to be deliberated upon by PH leaders.
We have yet to discuss this matter but we will work on it very soon,” he told reporters after speaking at the Pentas Angkatan Muda event in Taman Medan here.
On Tuesday, Muda had announced its intention to join the PH coalition while dismissing any cooperation with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s newly established Gerakan Tanah Air coalition.
“Informal discussions have been conducted with opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, (DAP secretary-general) Anthony Loke, as well as Amanah president (Mohamad Sabu),” Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said during a party event.
He added that unofficial discussions on cooperation with PH have been taking place since the Johor election in March.
Muda is reportedly targeting not more than 15 parliamentary seats in the looming 15th general election (GE15) and will defend the Muar seat currently held by Syed Saddiq.
However, on Wednesday, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the coalition had yet to receive an application from Muda to join PH, nor was the matter ever discussed in the coalition’s presidential council meetings.
Meanwhile, Anwar said seat negotiations for GE15 will take place very soon.
“We will decide on it as soon as possible. Everything is happening a bit too fast.” – The Vibes, September 10, 2022
