KOTA BARU – A woman has been remanded for seven days beginning today for allegedly abusing her son in March.

Kota Baru district police chief Mohd Rosdi Daud said the 36-year-old woman was arrested in Kok Lanas here yesterday after a police report was lodged by her ex-husband on March 10.

He said that the father of the 8-year-old child had been contacted by his ex-wife’s boyfriend, who told him that his son had been abused by the mother.

“The man had lived with his wife along with two of their children in Tampin, Negri Sembilan, but after they divorced in 2020, the wife and the son lived in Kota Baru, while their daughter lived with the father.

“The victim has been taken to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital and has received outpatient treatment, and will be handed over to the Social Welfare Department for further action,” he said in a statement today.

Rosdi said the case will be investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act. – Bernama, September 17, 2022
