KUALA LUMPUR – Keningau MP Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan said this evening that he had received clearance from the Health Ministry to be exempted from supervision and observation at home under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988 today.
The Sabah deputy chief minister said the release letter dated yesterday was signed by a medical officer from the Lembah Pantai health office.
“Any self-quarantined individual can request for an earlier release, subject to approval from the Health Ministry and after undergoing all the required health screening,” he said.
“Therefore, there is no issue of non-compliance by the parliamentarian as alleged,” he said in response to questions by opposition MPs in the Dewan Rakyat earlier today about a possible violation of his 14-day quarantine.
“Nor is there an issue of double standard as the early release was not political,” he said in a statement issued tonight.

The clearance, Jeffrey said, was made by the Health Ministry which had run multiple swab tests and blood tests on him since his arrival in Kuala Lumpur on November 12.
He also said that it was untrue that he was still in Sabah on November 13, and called the allegations malicious and slanderous, aimed at damaging his reputation and character. – The Vibes, November 24, 2020.
