PUTRAJAYA – Communications and Multimedia Ministry retirees should use the skills and expertise gained while serving in public service to remain active and contribute their ideas after retirement.

Deputy Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said retirement is a stepping stone for retirees to venture into the world outside the public service, either at a personal, family or community level.

“Retirement doesn’t mean retiring completely...they can continue participating in activities and contributing their ideas as it could also help in balancing and stabilising their physical and psychological health in the transition to retirement phase,” he said at the ministry’s  “Jasamu Dikenang 2022” programme here today.

At the same time, Zahidi also expressed hope that those who are still in service will continue to serve with full dedication and integrity in helping the ministry to implement its agenda and programmes.

“The continuity is vital as a catalyst for the country’s communication and multimedia sector development,” he said.

A total of 178 retirees from various agencies under the ministry nationwide, including former Malaysian National News Agency editor-in-chief Khairdzir Md Yunus, were honoured at the event. – Bernama, September 20, 2022
