KUALA LUMPUR – The PAS-led Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu governments will not dissolve their state assemblies at the same time as Parliament if a general election is called soon.

Party deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said this last night following a similar Pakatan Harapan (PH) decision for the state governments in Penang, Negri Sembilan, and Selangor.

He added that PAS must be ready to take Selangor from PH when the state election is held.

“First we take over Parliament, then we take over Selangor,” he was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today.

He was at a Perikatan Nasional event that was attended by coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Bersatu party leader Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Earlier, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the PAS-led state governments would not dissolve their respective state assemblies earlier than March 2023.

Yesterday, the PH administrations of Selangor, Penang, and Negri Sembilan decided they would only dissolve their respective assemblies in 2023.

In a brief statement, the PH presidential council said this was due to concerns raised by each state leader that the 15th general election would be called when the country faces the year-end flood season. – The Vibes, October 6, 2022
