KANGAR – The main suspect in the shoot-out between the General Operations Force and smugglers at the Malaysia-Thailand border two days ago is among the three local men and a Thai national remanded for seven days starting today.
The matter was confirmed by Perlis police chief Datuk Surina Saad.
The primary suspect is a 45-year-old man, she told Bernama.
The remand order against the four, up till December 2, were issued by magistrates’ court registrar Monica Joseph Gaisah following an application by police.
The suspects, aged 26 to 45, arrived at the court complex at 9.10am.
In the incident at a border post in Padang Besar on Tuesday, Sergeant Baharuddin Ramli, 54, was killed, while his colleague, Sergeant Norihan Tari, 39, was seriously injured.
Yesterday, 15 Malaysians were remanded for four days, and three Thais, a week, to facilitate investigations. – Bernama, November 26, 2020
