KUALA LUMPUR – PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he is willing to work with anyone for the coming 15th general election, including Pejuang chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Anwar simply replied that “the door is open” when repeatedly asked by reporters about the possibility and did not dismiss cooperation with the two figures.

However, Anwar had earlier clarified that those who wish to unite under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) banner must have common principles and values rather than just sharing a common enemy.

Anwar explained that those who wish to work with him must agree to the reform agenda and stand against corruption.

“Saying that ‘we should unite’ is something nice to hear but what are we uniting for? There are those who unite to rob, there are even associations for thieves.

“So standing united must be based on clear principles, such as good governance, (standing) against corruption, standing against racist policies, and fanatical religious beliefs.

“So any cooperation must be done based on these principles,” he said.

Anwar’s comments come after Muhyiddin’s revelation that Bersatu is willing to work with Dr Mahathir and his fledgling party, Pejuang, to fight against Umno.

Dr Mahathir has also appeared to be open to working with PH, having stated that the the onus now falls on Anwar as PH chairman to decide on the matter.

Anwar had also clarified that PH was mulling an electoral pact with Parti Sosialis Malaysia and Muda, with negotiations still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Anwar also announced that PH will unveil its manifesto this coming October 20 during the coalition’s convention in Perak. – The Vibes, October 13, 2022
