KUALA LUMPUR – Muar Umno Youth have denied their involvement in a commotion that took place during the “Mega Muar” ceramah last night, which saw a group of youth attempting to disrupt Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s speech.
Taking to Twitter, Muar Umno youth chief Helmy Abdul Latif said that he strongly rejects any form of provocation in politics.

Asserting that he did not instruct his division to instigate any provocation, Helmy condemned the act, adding that “we do not have time for this”.
“Political platforms should be celebrated openly...If we want to fight, we do so with the right ideology,” he said.
Helmy’s response follows allegations levelled by Syed Saddiq’s head of strategic communications, Farhan Iqbal, who claimed that Umno was behind the incident.
“Syed Saddiq’s first ceramah and Umno has already sent its boys to kacau (disturb),” Farhan tweeted late last night.
When contacted for clarification, Farhan responded: “Several locals identified these guys who were part of the group.”

Meanwhile, Muda secretary-general Amira Aisya said that the party will be filing a police report on the matter.
