PETALING JAYA – The electoral pact negotiations between Muda and Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the upcoming 15th general election (GE15) are nearing completion, said the youth-based party’s election director.
Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, who is also Muda deputy president, explained that the negotiations were centred on the “(fewer) than 15 seats” requested by her party to contest in the coming national polls.
“We have asked for (fewer) than 15 seats, they are about 70% completed but I would like to stress that there is no issue of incumbency here. The rest are just overlapping (seats),” she said to the press after the conclusion of a meeting with PH’s committee on seat negotiations today at the PKR headquarters here.
Amira said other issues included discussions on election machinery and the use of a common logo.
Also present was Amanah communications director, Khalid Abdul Samad, who revealed that Muda has agreed to use the PH logo for GE15.
“It has been agreed that they will use the Pakatan Harapan logo to make it easy for the voters,” he said.
Asked about Muda’s choice of candidates, Amira said they will make the announcement once the negotiations have been completed.
“At this moment, I can safely announce that one of our candidates is Syed Saddiq (Syed Abdul Rahman),” she said, referring to the Muda president.
Also present during the committee meeting are Steven Sim and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who represented DAP and PKR respectively, for the negotiations.
Malaysia is scheduled to go to the polls on November 19, with early voting on November 15, and nomination day on November 5. – The Vibes, October 23, 2022
