KOTA BELUD – Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is considering legal action against Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili for alleging that most of Warisan’s members are undocumented migrants.
He said he will check on the matter with his party, and if untrue, would sue Ongkili.
“I had invited PBS to work with us for the purpose of unity. If you don’t agree, it is all right. But don’t accuse us that a major number of our members are illegal immigrants.
“I will look into the legal aspect of this. I don’t want them (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) to allow this to become political fodder (in the election),” Shafie told reporters after launching the Kota Belud election machinery, today.
Ongkili at a GRS function in Tenom yesterday, said PBS was not ready to work with Warisan at the moment, and made the allegation that many of its members were irregular migrants.
“The reason is because (among) their grassroots, many are PTI (illegal immigrants),” Ongkili said.
He added that PBS would lodge police reports against Warisan whom he accused of “moving” voters around constituencies in Sabah.
Shafie said Warisan had initially wanted to work with PBS as the latter party had strong support from the Kadazandusun Murut ethnic groups.
Today, the Warisan leader also announced incumbent Kota Belud MP Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis as the party’s pick to defend the seat.
He said Isnaraisah is a vocal young leader, and that Warisan wants to give more women and young leaders a place in the country’s leadership. – The Vibes, October 23, 2022
