KUALA LUMPUR – PKR is set to reveal its list of high-profile candidates contesting in the upcoming general election (GE15) at a special press conference this afternoon.

Party deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the announcement will be jointly made by him and president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Apart from the prominent election candidates, Rafizi said PKR will also be announcing candidates comprising “figures from various backgrounds” who will contest in GE15.

The presser will be held at 2pm at the PKR headquarters in Merchant Square, Petaling Jaya, and will be broadcast live on Facebook.

To date, Anwar is the sole PKR leader who has officially confirmed the seat he will be contesting in the coming polls.

Speaking at the Pakatan Harapan Convention last week, the coalition chairman declared that he will be vying in Tambun, Perak, as part of a larger bid to capture the state and Putrajaya.

Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, while not formally nominated by PKR yet, has said he wants to take on Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Bagan Datuk

Speculation also abounds over other party leaders, although no official announcement has been made on the matter to date.

Among others, Rafizi is speculated to return to his Pandan constituency, which he won in 2013, and which is currently held by party adviser Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

In return, Wan Azizah is now said to be tipped to contest in the Bandar Tun Razak federal seat.

Meanwhile, Anwar has said recently that his eldest child, Nurul Izzah, is likely to defend her seat in Permatang Pauh. – The Vibes, October 26, 2022
