SHAH ALAM – Perikatan Nasional (PN) will declare a nationwide public holiday if the coalition secures victory in the coming general election, its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced today.

Speaking at the launch of the PN manifesto, the former prime minister said for Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor, the holiday will take effect on Sunday, while other states will have theirs on Monday.

He said the move is to allow outstation voters to come out and carry out their duties without the need to officially apply for an additional off day from their employers.

“I know there is a high desire among the rakyat to vote. This includes outstation voters who are forced to vote in their hometowns or other areas that are not their residence.

“As such, I would like to announce if PN wins in the election on November 19, we will declare a public holiday,” he said, to loud cheers from supporters present at the manifesto launch here. – The Vibes, November 6, 2022
