PETALING JAYA – A manifesto that does not solely rely on state or federal resources to be realised.
This was what Pakatan Harapan’s Datuk R. Ramanan pitched to voters last night when unveiling what he labels as “solutions”.
“These are solutions to issues specific to Sg Buloh which I know I can deliver with my MP’s allocation and own resources,” Ramanan told The Vibes last night.
“I want to convince the people here that I only promise what I can deliver. If I cannot, I will say so,” he said.
Ramanan also pledged to forego his MP’s salary and instead channel them to places of worship of every religion to help those in need.
He was met after unveiling his six-point manifesto at a rally in Kota Damansara here last night.
They are:
- Beri: a subsidy programme for the B40 group that allows them to buy groceries using a subsidised card
- Perantisan: a programme to tackle unemployment among graduates. This includes apprenticeships, reskilling, and scholarships, which he will obtain with the assistance of participating companies and businesses
- PING (Point Location-Initiate Resources-Network Assets-Go) As Team: a smart app to be used in emergencies such as floods and missing children. The app allows the public to better interface with their MPs, who in turn can use it as a dashboard to better monitor their constituencies
- Super sports and youth centre: a facility that not only offers recreational options like gaming but also career and youth counselling
- Wanita Tunjang Negara: a programme specifically targeted at women to provide business opportunities and training
- Reviewing Sg Buloh’s local planning: a holistic solution for a permanent solution to the constituency’s traffic jams and flooding
“I can deliver these on my own…I am able to give my personal assurance that these solutions will be implemented,” he said, adding that he will streamline his plans and resources with those of the state and even a PH-run federal government to offer meaningful solutions to the people of Sg Buloh.
Ramanan is facing caretaker health minister Khairy Jamaluddin of Barisan Nasional in a seven-cornered fight, which culminates in polling day on November 19. – The Vibes, November 13, 2022
