KUALA LUMPUR – Ketereh Umno division chief and party veteran Tan Sri Annuar Musa has urged all quarters to stop questioning Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s legitimacy as prime minister.

In a Facebook statement today, Annuar said the time has now come for all stakeholders to focus on their duties to serve the people and the country.

“It is unreasonable for us to continue questioning Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s appointment as prime minister as the process to appoint someone as prime minister has been done carefully by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to appoint the person with the majority support from members of Parliament, which is in accordance with his power.

“The focus now should be forming a government that executes their duties in service to the people and the country,” he said.

Annuar, who was formerly a cabinet minister and a Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general, also said that now is the time to close ranks and support the initiatives of national reconciliation or national unity to tackle the various socioeconomic challenges faced by the country.

In recent weeks, Annuar has openly criticised BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for his decision to support Pakatan Harapan despite the standing policy of “No Anwar, No DAP’’ that was decided by the last Umno general assembly.

However, Zahid, in a statement, clarified that this policy was only applicable to the 15th general election and not to any post-election pact or cooperation. – The Vibes, November 29, 2022
