ISKANDAR PUTERI – The Johor assembly today congratulated Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as the 10th prime minister of Malaysia.

“This august house would like to congratulate the Most Honourable Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as the 10th prime minister of Malaysia,” said assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi in his welcoming address at the budget sitting of the 15th Johor assembly here.

Puad, who is Rengit assemblyman, also congratulated three members of the house, namely Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (Benut), Liew Chin Tong (Perling) and Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub (Simpang Jeram) for winning the Simpang Renggam, Iskandar Puteri and Pulai parliamentary seats, respectively, in the 15th general election held on November 19.

He also congratulated the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) team for winning the 2022 Malaysia Cup at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, when tabling the state’s Budget 2023, also congratulated Anwar, who is Tambun MP, on his appointment as the new prime minister.

He also congratulated Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on JDT’s success in winning the 2022 Malaysia Cup.

Anwar, 75, took the oath of office as prime minister before Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara on November 24. – Bernama, December 1, 2022
