KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is being reminded of a handful of controversies, such as 1BestariNet and the supposed spending of RM500 billion, during his time as prime minister.

Incoming communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil, in defence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinet, said it is important to remember that Muhyiddin has issues that should be investigated.

In his Facebook post, Fahmi also called on the former prime minister to stop misleading the people with his statements, as the unity government is not a Pakatan Harapan (PH) government where Anwar can just appoint anyone he wants to the cabinet.

“Today, Tan Sri Muhyiddin has outrageously slandered and accused the prime minister and his unity government, which was appointed and formed on the advice of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“Maybe Muhyiddin has forgotten, but this is not a PH government where the prime minister can appoint whoever he wishes.

“This is a jointly formed unity government, where important policies or decisions will be made in consultation, including the issue of the cabinet appointment.”

Fahmi also brought up that previous cabinet appointments were “weaponised” to create “a party in a party”, which ruined the internal stability of the respective political parties.

To avoid a repeat of such a scenario, he said Anwar and coalition or party leaders in the unity government agreed that the appointments should be decided by the respective parties and coalitions.

Fahmi also reiterated that the prime minister is committed to ensuring that the unity government will not interfere in any court cases.

This was in response to Muhyiddin’s statement claiming that Anwar had “pawned” the country’s dignity and principles of good governance by appointing “kleptocrats” to his cabinet. – The Vibes, December 3, 2022
