BATU PAHAT – A 16-year-old boy was among two killed in a crash involving four motorcycles at Jalan Johor Bahru-Melaka, near Sungai Lurus, Senggarang, near here, last night.
The other dead victim was a 24-year-old man who rode the motorcycle with the teenager on the pillion in the 9 pm incident.
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Azhan Abdul Halim said the accident occurred when the 24-year-old failed to control his motorbike, while heading to Senggarang from Batu Pahat, causing it to collide with another motorbike coming from the opposite direction.
Due to the impact of the collision, both the rider and pillion passenger were killed instantly.
“The crash also involved another two motorbikes who failed to avoid the two collided vehicles lying on the road.
“Three other victims, aged 16 to 18 years old, sustained severe injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital in Batu Pahat,” he said in a statement, here, today, adding that the crash is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
