KUALA LUMPUR – Kelantan Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub has been reappointed Felcra Bhd chairman, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, said Jazlan’s reappointment was made based on the wishes of Felcra settlers, even though the cabinet recently decided to terminate political appointments in statutory bodies.

Zahid announced Jazlan’s reappointment at the annual general meeting of Koperasi Peserta-Peserta Felcra Malaysia Bhd last night.

He was quoted by Berita Harian saying that he had instructed the Rural and Regional Development Ministry secretary-general to issue a reappointment letter to the former Machang MP.

Jazlan, a former deputy in the same ministry, was first appointed Felcra chairman in October last year.

Zahid also acknowledged a leaked circular by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali dated December 15 on the cabinet’s decision to end with immediate effect the contracts of political appointees.

Zahid said that since Felcra cooperative members had asked for Jazlan’s return, he felt that the Umno politician should continue in the position. – The Vibes, December 17, 2022
