KUALA TERENGGANU – The main routes connecting Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang are still accessible despite the floods, says Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa.
Rohaimi said the roads connecting the two east coast states with Terengganu, including the East Coast Expressway 2 and Jalan Pantai from Kemaman to Besut, were still accessible as of 8pm.
He said so far, only a few roads in three districts, namely Setiu, Dungun and Besut, were inaccessible after being flooded since 8am today.
“In Setiu, the road stretch that cannot be passed is KM67-68 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru, which is near the Kg Balik Bukit Petronas station and is closed to light vehicles.
“Motorists can use alternative routes, namely via Jalan Batu Rakit-Pantai Penarik-Saujana-Kuala Besut-Tok Bali-Bachok,” he said in a media statement tonight.
According to Rohaimi, the Padang Luas-Bukit Yong route in the Besut district is closed to all types of vehicles and motorists can use Jln Pantai Kuala Besut-Tok Bali-Bachok as an alternative.
“In Dungun, the route involved is KM76 of Jln Jerangau-Jabor near the Bukit Besi Road Transport Department Weigh Station.
“As an alternative, road users can use the Paka Toll-LPT 2-Bukit Besi Toll route,” he said, while urging motorists to plan their journeys and use alternative routes. – Bernama, December 18, 2022
