KUALA LUMPUR – A lost elephant was found in the Kluang Prison compound on Monday night, confirmed the Johor Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).

Department director Aminuddin Jamin told Bernama that three personnel were deployed to the site to lead the elephant to a safe area.

He added that the animal is believed to be part of the Grup Tenang herd that has 15 elephants.

“We fired a few shots in the air towards the nearby Gunung Lambak forest. Perhilitan will continue to monitor that area to ensure public safety.”

He said this is the first time an elephant has encroached into the prison compound.

The public is advised to not provoke the animal if they spot it, but instead to call Perhilitan for assistance. – The Vibes, December 21, 2022
