KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Larry Sng should take his own advice instead of asking other party members to do “some soul-searching”, said Datuk Roger Tan Seng Huat.
In a statement today, Tan, who is the former Selangor PBM chief said Sng’s personal actions have derailed efforts to develop the party and even created a public perception that the organisation is in chaos.
Tan then said that PBM’s annual general assembly in October has reached a consensus to appoint former Ampang MP Datuk Seri Zuraida Kamaruddin as party president.
The matter was properly informed to the Registrar of Societies, said Tan.
“Yet, prior to the 15th general election (GE15), Larry had broken his promise and insisted that he was still the president, but the responsibility of the president had been carried out by Zuraida.
“Sng was not involved in any groundwork including various welfare programs run by PBM since December 2021,’’ he said as quoted by The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister publication Getaran.
This follows after Sng told suspended member Zuraida and her allies to quit politics and do “some soul-searching”.
The Julau MP said the poor performances of Zuraida and her supporters during the recent general election clearly signal that they are no longer relevant or accepted by the constituents.
His statement comes after Zuraida rebuked Sng for contradicting a resolution by the party’s highest governing body to appoint her as president, while her close ally Haniza Talha accused him of acting unilaterally in deciding to join the unity government.
Sng is also the sole parliamentarian from PBM and has since pledged his support for the unity government and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Tan also concurred with Zuraida and Haniza that Sng had shown his immaturity and cautioned any parties currently being “persuaded” by the Julau MP not to be swayed by his words.
“Such parasitic behaviour should not exist in any individual, especially a parliamentarian. I hope Sng would repent before karma repays him for all his actions that have ruined an organisation that was formed on honourable ideals and intention,’’ he said. – The Vibes, December 27, 2022
