KUALA LUMPUR – A vehicle was badly damaged at Jalan Ampang here after building materials from a nearby construction site fell on it early this morning. 

Based on photos of the incident shared by netizens on Twitter, the Toyota Vios, which was parked by the roadside in front of a convenience store, has suffered extensive damage to its roof and rear windshield. 

A Twitter user known as @Shamin_Shaimah warned road users to be careful when passing by the incident location, with several commenters expressing their concern over how the incident could have occurred. 

Similarly, user @Haziq_Escobar described the scene, which he said was near Wisma Central and Corus Hotel here, as “nightmarish”. 

Another user, @hfzxcc, claimed that the materials had fallen from a crane before landing on the car. 

According to a statement by Dang Wangi police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya, the incident happened at 8.45am today. 

“A piece of staging from the 56th floor of an 80-storey building under construction fell at the accident site.”

He added that the car owner was in the convenience store when the incident occurred, noting that no injuries were reported. – The Vibes, January 13, 2023
