KUALA LUMPUR – The Ampang LRT line is currently experiencing delays due to safety factors resulting from a kinked track alignment near the Bandaraya LRT station.

Preliminary observations indicate that this is due to the structural damage of the flyover in the area, believed to be the result of construction works adjacent to the area concerned, says Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, operator of the LRT service.

Rapid Rail engineers are currently on site to assess the situation, together with structural experts, to ensure its safety and strength, it said.

Service on the route between the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya LRT stations has been discontinued until its safety can be ensured.

It said the Ampang LRT line service will run at a reduced speed and as a result cause service delays – 9 minutes in the central district and 18 minutes outside the central district.

Trains from Putra Heights will turn back at the Plaza Rakyat station and trains from Sentul Timur will turn back at the Bandaraya station, while shuttle services are available between the Plaza Rakyat and Masjid Jamek stations.

The following alternative bus services have also been activated to accommodate passengers.

Bandaraya to Plaza Rakyat station: bus number WVH9594, W7486Q

Plaza Rakyat to Bandaraya station: bus number WUX5708, WVC3984

Sentul Timur to Bandaraya station: bus number PJJ7149, WUW1702

Bandaraya to Sentul Timur station: bus number W3607T

Rapid Rail says police officers have been positioned at the main stations to manage congestion. – The Vibes, January 27, 2023
