KUALA LUMPUR – The allocation for the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) under the 2021 Budget was passed at the committee stage at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.

The Supply Bill 2021 for the ministry was passed by a majority voice vote after being debated by ten government and opposition MPs.

Among the MPs involved in the debate were Yeo Bee Yin (PH-Bakri); Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (PH-Kuala Selangor); Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassin (BN-Arau); Lukanisman Awang Sauni (GPS-Sibuti); and Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PAS-Dungun).

Earlier, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin when winding up the debate for the ministry touched on several issues including the embracing of science, technology and innovation, cabotage, the government's Covid-19 vaccine procurement and SilTerra Sdn Bhd.

On SilTerra, Khairy said the government was preparing a memorandum to make a stand on national interests before deciding on the future of the local semiconductor company.
