MELAKA – The Melaka government hopes that the Local Government Development Ministry will immediately approve a request for an allocation of more than half a million ringgit for repairs at the Krubong Public Housing Project (PPR) here.
Senior Housing executive councillor Datuk Rais Yasin said it was to enable immediate repairs for 70 units with damaged floor tiles and anti-leak lining.
“We applied for an allocation of RM600,000 last October through the Melaka Housing Board but are still waiting for approval,” he said after a visit to the PPR. He added that the approval was needed urgently as state funds were inadequate for prompt repairs, and residents’ daily routines have been impacted.
He explained that from 2020 to 2022, the housing board had undertaken repairs costing RM1.23 million at the PPR, involving 213 units.
In the meantime, Rais explained that RM21 million had also been spent on upgrades and maintenance at PPRs and public flats in the state.
“The two PPRs in Krubong and Tehel that we have seen are in good (overall) condition, where maintenance work is done by (the state housing board) at a cost of RM42,832 per month involving grass cutting, elevator maintenance, and cleaning work,” he said. – Bernama, April 23, 2023
