KUALA LUMPUR – After detecting 55 Covid-19 cases, the government will place three apartments in Genting Highlands under an enhanced movement control order.

“The National Security Council has been informed of the rise in cases in three apartments in Bentong, Pahang – Amber Court Apartment, Ria Apartment, and Rumah Kongsi Kg Semaut.

“The Health Ministry conducted screenings from December 6 until today and recorded 55 positive cases involving foreign workers,” said Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

The EMCO will run from tomorrow until December 23.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to extend EMCOs in two areas as well.

The EMCO in Seluang, Kulim will be extended another 14 days from Friday to December 24.

During his briefing today, Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry screened 2,282 individuals and recorded 137 Covid-19 cases, with 128 samples still awaiting results.

However, Taman Sawi in Seluang will no longer be subject to the EMCO as there are no more positive cases.

Similarly, the EMCO in Taman Telipok Ria, Tuaran in Sabah will also be extended to December 24, as results for 1,386 Covid-19 samples remain pending.

Ismail Sabri said 8,186 individuals in the area were screened and 493 positive cases recorded.

In Teja, Kampar, the EMCO scheduled to be lifted on December 20 will end tomorrow instead.

“The Health Ministry tested 410 individuals in Teja and recorded 43 positive cases. However, 41 of those cases came from a care home.” – The Vibes, December 9, 2020
