KUALA LUMPUR – Umno and PAS appear to have patched things up after the menteri besar crisis in Perak.

The two parties have agreed to strengthen their Muafakat Nasional political cooperation, including their ties with Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional in preparing for the next general election, said MN joint secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa tonight.

He said this after attending the MN secretariat meeting this evening, which mostly discussed ways to strengthen the cooperation between Umno and PAS, as well as other political allies.

“The meeting agreed to ensure MN would not only forge closer ties between Umno and PAS, but to also strengthen its relationship with Bersatu, as well as the unity between BN and PN,” he said after tonight’s meeting at the Umno headquarters in Menara Dato Onn here.

“The cooperation between MN, BN, and PN will continue to be consolidated leading up to the 15th general election.

“Overall, we extensively discussed how we can consolidate cooperation and unity between the members of BN, PN, and MN to become a formation that will unite the people.”

Echoing Annuar, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the routine meeting today, which would be held on a regular basis, also reflected on the Perak menteri besar crisis and how the parties could work together moving forward.

“The meeting discussed the shared agendas of the three parties (PAS, Umno, and Bersatu) and to consolidate MN,” he said. – The Vibes, December 9, 2020
