BUTTERWORTH – It is up to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) and police to investigate Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for sedition over his remarks on Penang’s statehood, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

“Under the law, the AGC and police are empowered to investigate, and I am sure they will take action if there are grounds,” said Fahmi, adding that the public can utilise the relevant channels to lodge their complaints.

He was referring to a spate of police reports lodged here against Sanusi for incitement after his remarks that Penang belongs to Kedah.

Sanusi yesterday said he does not care if police reports are lodged against him and that police are welcome to investigate.

Sanusi has been reiterating that Penang belongs to Kedah and that the federal constitution needs to be amended to accommodate findings made by historians and experts in Kedah.

He added that Penang belongs to the Kedah sultanate and those who founded the island state, and highlighted the claim that those who later went on to colonise it for almost 200 years did it by way of deceit.

Meanwhile, Penang PKR Youth chief Fahmi Zainol had lodged a report against Sanusi at the police station near the Perda township in Bukit Mertajam.

Earlier, Fahmi was at the Kita Madani event at Dataran Tulip in Midtown Perda, Tasek Gelugor here.

The ministry, with the various agencies under it, has selected 1,878 locations to launch the Madani community concept so the public can better understand its principles.

He said the Madani programme would be conducted in most of the constituencies, not just those under the opposition. – The Vibes, June 3, 2023
