KOTA BARU – The Election Commission (EC) has been informed of the dissolution of the Kelantan Legislative Assembly tomorrow to make way for the state election within 60 days. 

Kelantan assembly speaker Datuk Abdullah Ya’kub said the assembly had sent a notification letter last week. 

“The notification letter on the dissolution of the Kelantan assembly tomorrow (June 22) was sent to EC on June 14,” he told Bernama today. 

Last Wednesday, Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob announced that the Kelantan assembly which has 45 seats will be dissolved after obtaining the consent of Kelantan ruler Sultan Muhammad V. 

PAS holds 37 seats in the assembly with Barisan Nasional (seven) and Bersatu (one). – Bernama, June 21, 2023
