6 Negri Amanah heads to boycott convention

SEREMBAN – Six of the eight division and Wanita chiefs of Negri Sembilan Amanah will not attend a party convention here tomorrow, saying they do not recognise the chapter’s top leadership.

State Amanah vice-chairman Datuk Zulkefly Mohamad Omar told a press conference here today that the top leadership is “illegal”, and new party elections should be held.

“We have received information that the national Amanah leadership has approved fresh elections for the top leaders in the Negri Sembilan chapter, but this has not yet been done.

"By right, the convention should be postponed, pending fresh polls for the top four posts of chairman, deputy chairman, and vice-chairmen 1 and 2.”

If the matter is not rectified in line with the party constitution, he said, it could affect Amanah in the 15th general election. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
