KUALA LUMPUR – Fifty-one illegal immigrants and a skipper were arrested in Op Benteng yesterday, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the operation – conducted with cooperation of police, as well as personnel from the armed forces, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and Malaysian Border Security Agency – also seized six vehicles and two boats.
“The government will take firm actions against any party attempting to enter the country illegally. Enforcement agencies will continue to tighten control at the border especially at rat trails,” he said in a statement today. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
