KUALA LUMPUR – Investigation papers on 3R issues (royalty, religion and race) against PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng were already handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers yesterday.

Bernama quoted Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain as saying, however, that some matters still require scrutiny despite probes into both cases being 70% complete.

“If more investigations are required, we need to settle (that) in terms of data preservation and forensics,” he told a special media conference at Bukit Aman police headquarters here today.

On Sunday, police confirmed that investigation papers on 3R issues against the two leaders will be submitted to AGC after all statements were taken.

Razarudin said the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit of Bukit Aman CID had taken their testimonies.

The investigation against Hadi was carried out following his statement on Facebook on July 8, which claimed that DAP wants Islam as defined in the federal constitution to be interpreted through a “liberal” lens.

Meanwhile, Bukit Aman earlier said police reports were lodged against Lim for remarks made in Mandarin that freedom of religion would be eroded in Penang if “the green wave” swept the state in upcoming state polls.

Lim was reported as saying that Chinese and Buddhist temples would be destroyed if the green wave won – a reference to Perikatan Nasional, of which PAS is a component.

However, he later clarified he had been talking about a Hindu temple that was demolished in Kedah in 2020. – The Vibes, July 18, 2023
