KOTA BARU – The younger brother of the late Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has claimed that deputy caretaker menteri besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah was the reason why his nephew, Nik Mohamad Abduh was not nominated for the state elections in Kelantan.
Nik Din Nik Mat also claimed that the name of the former Bachok MP was initially on the list but was later rejected by Amar, while PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang had personally sent a letter asking Kelantan PAS to include Nik Mohamad Abduh.
He claimed the move by Amar who is also Panchor candidate was because he did not want the family of the late Nik Abdul Aziz to continue its legacy in Pengkalan Chepa.
He made these revelations in a 33-second video which went viral earlier today. Nik Din later confirmed the contents of the video.
He said he was surprised because, on June 23, he had personally met the PAS president and asked if the party still needed Nik Abduh.
"The PAS president said the party still needed him as he was smart, hardworking and very active. So I asked for Nik Abduh to be given a seat," he said.
He claimed it had come to his attention that Nik Abduh was finally not given a seat because Amar did not want the family of the late Nik Abdul Aziz to continue their legacy in Pengkalan Chepa.
Nik Abdul Aziz was the longest-serving Kelantan menteri besar after helming the state from 1990 to 2013. He also served as the MP for Kelantan Hilir (later renamed Pengkalan Chepa) from 1967 until 1982.
