IPOH – Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, also known as Peja, is of the opinion that the controversy concerning the son of the late Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has been handled well.

There have been claims that PAS’ Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, who is the son of the late PAS spiritual adviser, had been blocked from being picked as the candidate for the Chempaka seat in the Kelantan election.

PAS is a component of PN alongside Bersatu and Gerakan.

Faizal, who is Bersatu deputy president, said PN leadership has always been impressing upon members that it is the coalition that is contesting and the candidates named are only representing the coalition.

In the end, if they win and manage to form the state government, everyone has to work together as a team, he said.

“This means, everyone, (including) party supporters must accept that the election candidates named are just faces to represent our party.

“The beauty of PN is that when a leader is not named as a candidate, maybe there will be those who feel disappointed, upset and so on. But after the nomination process is over and we have a representative, things calm down.

“God willing, I see this (situation) not only for the camp and supporters of Nik Abduh, but overall, we are already in the mode to face Umno and DAP, not to fight amongst ourselves,” he said at an event at the Perak Bersatu office in Meru Raya, today.

It was previously reported that Nik Abduh being left out as a candidate gave rise to allegations that certain quarters in PAS wanted to end the legacy of Nik Aziz, who was also formerly the Kelantan menteri besar. – The Vibes, July 30, 2023
