GEORGE TOWN – Penang expects those elected as Pakatan Harapan assemblymen to declare their assets after the state elections, said caretaker chief minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow said that it has become customary for elected representatives in Penang to declare their assets, with the state being the first in the country to do this.
“It shows transparency on our end,” said Chow at G Hotel today.
Among those present was Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Teo Nie Ching.
Earlier, he said that Penang continues to lead in the electronics and electrical field owing to the state’s investment-friendly policies.
Such policies will continue to go on if PH is allowed to continue leading the state for another electoral term.
During his campaigning rounds for the state elections slated for August 12, Chow stressed that Penang has a track record to uphold after scoring points in good governance, which can be improved further if a mandate is secured once again.
In another development, the Penang Island City Council has clarified that only five vehicles were forcibly removed from Karpal Singh Drive to accommodate tonight’s mega ceramah, where Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to speak.
The council said in a statement that only five vehicles were removed after several reminders issued for the owners to remove them fell on deaf ears.
It was not ten vehicles, as alleged in a Chinese media online report, it said. – The Vibes, August 5, 2023
