BUKIT MERTAJAM – PKR’s two-term Machang Bubuk assemblyman Lee Khai Loon had apparently fainted at his operations room here earlier today as campaigning swung into overdrive with less than six days left for the state election here.

Lee, who is defending his seat, was present late last night at a rally in Permatang Pauh where PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was present.

Lee, aged 45, spoke at the same rally but had then shown no visible signs of being ill.

He appeared jovial and cracked jokes with everyone present.

According to a Facebook post, Lee suddenly fell and became unconscious at his operations room.

The post also said that all campaign programmes for today will be deferred.

Attempts are being made to obtain updates from his representatives.

In an afternoon update, an aide working under Lee confirmed the fainting episode but said that the PKR candidate had since regained his consciousness.

“He is now resting,” the aide said without specifying if Lee is resting at home, or in the hospital or clinic.

Meanwhile, another aide said that Lee has sought medical attention and the doctor’s diagnosis is that it was just fatigue.
