KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional MPs staged a walkout from the Dewan Rakyat during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s winding-up speech, after Putrajaya MP Datuk Radzi Jidin was ejected from the House.

Radzi was booted out after a prolonged shouting match with government backbenchers when he lashed out at Anwar.

It started when Anwar denied that the government intervened in the attorney-general’s DNAA decision in Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi corruption case.

“When the AG made the decision, I asked him. I didn’t discuss the matter with him. I asked him to explain the reasons.”

The shouting match started when Radzi laughed during Anwar’s speech.

Anwar then retorted saying “You can laugh (Radzi), but you did the same thing when it was your (PN’s) administration,” he said.

This riled up Radzi who jumped up to protest and repeatedly demanded Anwar retract his statement. Anwar was unable to continue his explanation and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul had to order Radzi to leave the House.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin earlier defended Radzi saying he was simply trying to defend his honour and that all PN MPs will also walk out.

However, Ketereh MP Khlir Nor remained in the House and asked a question about MP allocations. Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman also remained in the House and said he would support the government if it wanted to amend the law concerning the separation of laws in the judiciary. – The Vibes, September 19, 2023
