PETALING JAYA - Despite requests from certain stakeholders, the Ministry of Education has no plans to revive the Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) examination.

Instead, its minister, Fadhlina Sidek said the focus was on the curriculum for 2027 through roadshows or tours to gather feedback on the new school curriculum.

"The new curriculum is aimed at strengthening the education system for the future.

"Parents should now assist the ministry and provide their feedback to help us focus on a holistic assessment of our children, especially their overall development ," she said.

Fadhlina, who is also the Nibong Tebal member of parliament, earlier officiated the Taman Angkat Amanita Taman Pekaka in her constituency.

On 28 April last year, the then Senior Minister of Education, Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin announced that UPSR was completely abolished while in the same year, the Third Form Assessment (PT3) was also abolished.

UPSR was first introduced in 1988 with the basic purpose at that time being 4M which is reading, writing, calculating and reasoning while PT3 was implemented in 2014 to replace Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR). - The Vibes, October 28, 2023
