WHAT was it like growing up surrounded by musical legends?

Dasha Logan thought singing was what everyone did naturally. Her father, Loganathan Arumugam, and uncle (David Arumugam) were the founding members of one of Malaysia’s most popular bands, Alleycats.

The jazz, RnB, soul and funk performer has been singing professionally for the past 16 years, after being offered her first singing gig at the age of 17, performing at venues in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.

But despite her early foothold in the local music industry, she felt she needed to come out from under the shade that the Alleycats afro had cast to truly know if she had it in her to make it with her own name. She packed her bags and left for London, where as an unknown entity, she went on to perform at open mics, and write and record her single, Cleverly, which hit No.1 on the UK Soul Charts in 2014.
