SABAH – One day after the state election, Sabah brings cheers to fans as they fought back twice to beat Melaka United 3-2 at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu, reviving chances to remain in the Super League next season.
Sabah fell behind early in the first half as Melaka took the lead through striker Uche Agba in the 15th minute.
However, the home side equalized nine minutes later through Dennis Buschening but they were trailing 2-1 after Melaka midfielder Sony Norde, scored in added time in the first half.
Sabah staged a comeback as Buschening scored in the 64th minute before Rodoljub Paunovic slotted home a spot-kick in the 72nd minute.
The victory means Sabah is currently ninth in Super League with 9 points while Melaka remains in the seventh spot with 11 points from nine matches.
Sabah also became the only team in relegation battle who registered a win in the last five matches, as PJ City in 10th place with 8 points while Felda United in 11th place with 7 points.
The Rhinos will travel to Johor Bahru to face Johor Darul Ta’zim on Oct 2, before playing at home against UiTM FC on 10 Oct. – Football Tribe, September 28, 2020
