KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor FC and Michael Feichtenbeiner have mutually agreed to end his tenure as first team head coach.
However, he would still continue to be the club’s sporting director, a position he has held since 2020, to continue its football development project.
In a statement, the club said Feichtenbeiner has overseen the development of many young Selangor players that have been promoted to the first team and national squad.
“To date, 19 young players from Selangor's feeder team have been promoted into the first team such as Mukhairi Ajmal, Hein Htet Aung, Alex Agyarkwa, Quentin Cheng and many others.
“Furthermore, a total of 10 young players from Selangor have been selected to represent the national under-23 team and another 13 have already represented the national under-19 team in various Asean- and Asian-level tournaments this year,” the club said.
Selangor FC believe that the development project must continue as the club is one of the youngest teams (based on average age) in this season’s Malaysia Super League.
In the meantime, first team head coach duties will be taken up by assistant head coach Nidzam Jamil, who will hold the position on an interim basis, for the remaining 2022 Super League.
The club will make further announcements after all deliberations on the new head coach as the search is currently ongoing.
