KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is still awaiting reports from the match commissioner on the Kelantan v Perak game that ended in an altercation between fans of both sides after the final whistle.
According to FAM secretary-general Mohd Saifuddin Abu Bakar, the association is currently waiting for the report to be submitted.
“We will have to wait for the reports from the match commissioner and other officials that were in charge of that match.
“It is a lengthy process. Once we receive it, we will hand it over to the legal committee to evaluate and carry out proceedings,” he told The Vibes.
On Wednesday, Premier League leaders Kelantan lost to second-to-last Perak 2-1 on home ground at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Baru.
Perak players and fans both started celebrating provocatively after Perak got the lead and eventually a win due to an own goal, frustrating Kelantan supporters.
Videos circulating online showed over a hundred fans from both ends involved in an altercation.
Perak FC’s team bus was damaged by rocks while visiting fans had to be escorted out of the venue on buses and vans, which were pelted by bottles and other objects.
According to a report by Utusan Malaysia, Perak FC intends to lodge a report with the Malaysian Football League regarding the incident.
MFL chief executive Stuart Ramalingam said when contacted by The Vibes that disciplinary matters like this come under FAM authority. – The Vibes, August 12, 2022
